Fantastic cpu and okay heatsink. runs cooler than the best dual core under same load
Bought it on January with a Intel mobo DP35DP and 4GB of Corsair memory DDR2 DHX, and I love the performance, it is so fast and stable, no problems at all, 2 days ago I got a NVIDIA XFX GTX 260 Core 216 Black Edition to add to my system and its amazing for gaming. Crysis, Far Cry 2, Call of Dut: World at War, all of my games are performing AWESOME. Recommended processor, and good price, even thought I paid $300 at that moment.
SO TO SATISFY MY NEED TO KNOW I OC'D IT TO 4.19 GHZ AS A TEST AND THE DARN THING IS STILL RUNNING UNDER 70C UNDER 100% EVGA FOLDING@HOME LOAD, THEN AGAIN A GOOD CPU COOLER IS WHAT MAKES THE CAKE. THIS CPU IS BY FAR THE BEST I'VE OWED. I WILL SAY THAT IFFFF YOU ARE LOOKING INTO SOMETHING GOOD AND NOT HAVE TO PAY YOUR WHOLE MONTHS WORTH SALARY THIS IS DEFINITELY A GREAT CPU. IT IS OFF THE START A GREAT PIECE OF INNOVATIVE TECH. ITS RATED @ 2.83 BUT OF COURSE NOW A DAYS THATS DOESNT STAY THE SAME FOR LONG. WOULD I RECOMEND IT. YES.
The mounting hardware could be much improved. I had difficulty with the fan & heatsink mounting on my Asus P5Q3 motherboard. The processor is screaming along my Vista Business 64 bit system. It is all plastic and breaks by looking at it funny ( I did not use a screwdriver ). The weakest part of any computer is the moving parts. In this case it is true. I purchased a third party CPU cooler and was delayed several days getting my project off the ground. Invest in a better heatsink and fan is my reccomendation.
No matter what I did with my old computer the CPU (P4) usage was usually 100%. This was my first computer build and this was the CPU I decided to use. I havent been able to slow this thing down at all, it eats up whatever I throw at it and asks for more. I am not dissapointed at all. This thing is fast. I was going to get the Q6600 but I'm glad I spent the extra cash and got this. This is how a computer is supposed to work.
